One Minute of Fitness Inspiration – Challenge

Challenge – how do you perceive challenge?  Do you dread it?  Do you embrace it?  A favorite verse of mine from scripture comes from the book of James.  “Consider it pure my brothers/sisters whenever you face trials of many kinds.  Because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance.  Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.”  That verse is full of wisdom and among other things directly applies to the challenge of physical training.  When the race, workout, swim, run, bike or any activity gets tough that’s when our bodies and minds begin to adapt.  First comes the challenge, then, if we choose to see it through, the perseverance, then the completion. We become better, fitter, stronger, more mentally tough, faster.  So next time the road seems just a bit too long, the weight too heavy, the climb too steep, the interval too fast, the race too hard, remember why it’s worth it to hang on, to persevere and most importantly to go back out and do it again and again.  The challenge completes us.  Thanks for listening friends.  Stay inspired.
